500 Awesome Follows On WordPress

My daughter says she could prove to the world that slow and steady doesn’t win the race and I’m sure you understand where she is coming from. To a child slow and steady is a disaster. How could you possibly come first if you’re a slow writer, or win a race if you raced like a turtle?

You know what?

She’s right. You only need to see it from her own angle.

But for the likes of us who have seen the world as it truly is, the adage stands to be true.

Blogging for me is like running a lifelong marathon. The faster you go, the more you’re likely going to get tired of running to the end.

Quitting comes to mind when your entire energy is expended and you’re sapped and worn.

The dead has the privilege of enjoying an everlasting sleep says an African adage. So, no rush in this business. We wake everyday and keep moving at a steady pace towards the right direction.

Steady Matters

If the slow pace doesn’t apeal to you, at least the steady would – must is the right word. Wether you’re leaking the soup hot or cold, keep it steady.

No matter how fast or slow you want to run this race, be consistent, be persistent and everything will be fine in the end.

I learned to grow from my first follower!

Before I got my first follower on WordPress, I didn’t know people were supposed to follow my blog to see my posts๐Ÿ˜.

Yes that was how naive I was! Do not blame me for it. I knew nothing about blogging. Absolutely nothing.

As I have mentioned in my previous post, I thought that once you open a website, millions of viewers from all over the world would begin to see your blog in Google search.

Childish thought, huh?

But when I got my first follower, my eyes popped!

So I’m supposed to follow other bloggers?

Where will I find them?

I didn’t really know how he discovered my blog but he followed me and that single first follower was my first step of growth and my expansion came and every one additional follower added to the extension of my coast.

You see, followers matter.

A lot.

I’m thankful for that.

Here are the basic rule for growth here on WordPress – I discovered this after two years of blogging without much seriousness;

Write good content,

Post regularly,

Follow other bloggers,

Visit their blogs

Read their posts,

Like their posts if you like it,

Leave a meaningful comment on their posts if you’re moved to.

Whatever you do, be sincere. Let it come straight from your heart.

Know This

I have fun reading lots of your blog.

You’re one of the great blogs I discovered.

Many of you that are my followers and those that I follow, I’ve really learned a lot from you.

I still learn from you, so, keep blogging! Keep writing!

To you that make up to this number of followers, I say, thank you for following me and for your patience. It has been a great journey which looks like it just began.

Thank you for following my blog.

You’re special and your blogs have helped me a lot to become a lot better.

My special thanks goes to God Almighty, my strength and my inspiration.

Looking forward to a thousand follows soon.๐Ÿ™

  1. Hello! Firstly congratulations on your blogging success. Thatโ€™s great.
Iโ€™m fairly new to WordPress. Iโ€™ve had my blog for a while and have posted sporadically, most reads just coming from people I know as I share my posts on Facebook. However I think itโ€™s something Iโ€™d like to get into more and would like to starting connecting with others and finding good blogs to read… but Iโ€™m not quite sure how! I find the reader function hard to use to find blogs of interest to me and it all seems a little overwhelming as there is so much out there! How do you find blogs that are of interest to you? How do you avoid only reading the โ€˜bigโ€™ ones with loads of followers? Just not quite sure how to find people!

    1. Thanks a lot Mrs. C for your kind words.
The beginning is not always easy in blogosphere. Most of us passed through the same, not knowing what to do. We only learned along the way.. You only see the blogs that you follow on your reader. And bloggers also see your blog posts when they follow you. So you need to follow and be followed to grow.
To find a blog of interest to follow, type the specific tag of interested in your reader search and bloggers blogging in that tag or field will be displayed. You can click on their blog and read their posts. If you like their content, click on the like button below their post and drop a meaningful comment in the comment section. Then follow their blog. Some will follow back some won’t. If they don’t follow immediatly, have patience, they will with time if you keep visiting and interacting with their blog – you’re here to learn and grow anyway.
Another way is to visit a post of any of your followers. Check the people that liked their post, check their blogs and follow them, make sure they have blog that is relevant to you. Like minds attract. Like, comment and follow them. You need to read their new posts as soon as possible, comment and like to get them to see your commitment and have them visit yours too. Post regularly. If it’s daily, weekly or monthly post, make sure you don’t miss making a post so you don’t get forgotten. When you’re not able to make a post, at least read their blogs, like and comment. You get discovered this way. I hope this helps.
If you have any more questions, let me know.
Follow my blog to help me discover yours.
      Have a blessed day.

  2. “Whichever pace you decide to move, ensure you are consistent/persistent”. Meanwhile, I can testify to the fact that the race, on this platform, is truly not for the faint. If you run too hard, you may wear yourself out too soon and fall out. When too slow, you end up not being relevant and impactful. Except for those who go through the backend to amass followers, 500 followers is no small feat and it’s worth all the celebration. Congratulations! You’ve been one of most profound, reliable and consistent bloggers I’ve come to know on this platform. Thank you for the gift of your pen. Cheers to greater heights!
